Description
The Tenderlock Precision Meat Apron splits its two tones the other way from most butcher aprons in this line: near-black on top, cognac tan below. The dark upper bib sits in the primary contact zone at the chest and shoulder level. The cognac lower body handles the thigh and knee coverage. Cross-back straps in cognac bridge the two tones. A small open chest pocket on the black bib, a wide cognac lower section with individual tool slots at the top edge. This is a butcher apron that has a point of view and sticks to it.
Near-black full-grain leather upper and cognac tan full-grain leather lower: both panels are the same dense, protective material throughout. The near-black bib handles the highest-exposure zone without showing residue between wipes. The cognac lower body develops its patina more visibly with use and conditioning, building the kind of surface depth that takes a genuinely used apron a season to accumulate. Both panels condition and wipe clean at the same rate.

Storage
The small chest pocket on the black bib handles a marker, a folded note, or a small item you want at eye level during a shift. The tool slots along the upper edge of the cognac lower section hold knives and a sharpening steel upright and separated, just above the open body of the lower leather panel. Below the slots, the cognac panel itself is an unobstructed apron skirt with no additional pockets: the storage is concentrated in the slot band rather than spread across a lower pocket.
Straps and fit
Cognac cross-back straps with star stud hardware at the bib junctions connect the upper and lower tones with a small decorative accent where the strap meets the near-black body. Cross-back routing distributes weight evenly across both shoulders. Made for the US market in sizes Small through 2XL.
Coverage and safety
Chest-to-mid-thigh two-tone full-grain leather covers the torso and upper legs from blood, fat, and incidental blade contact through a full cutting shift. Both the near-black and cognac panels are the same full-grain leather with the same surface protection properties. Leather is not cut-proof or puncture-proof. Always use cut-resistant gloves and proper knife technique every shift.
Care and maintenance
Wipe both the near-black bib and the cognac lower body with a damp cloth after each shift. Condition both tones at the same intervals with a neutral conditioner. The near-black top stays deep; the cognac lower panel develops its patina more visibly. Clear the knife slots of debris between shifts. Do not machine wash or soak. Store hung or flat away from direct heat and sunlight.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Tenderlock cut-proof?
No. Full-grain leather in both tones is not cut-proof or puncture-proof. It provides a useful surface barrier from abrasion and incidental contact. Cut-resistant gloves and safe knife technique are essential every shift.
How does the lower section storage work?
Individual knife slots run along the upper edge of the wide cognac lower body, holding knives and a sharpening steel upright and separated. Below the slots the cognac panel is a clean, open leather skirt with no pockets. All active storage is in the slot band.
What sizes are available?
Small, Medium, Large, XL, and 2XL. The cognac cross-back straps adjust for fit within each size.
