Description
The Fleshforge Leather Apron is a two-tone butcher apron built around a detail you do not see often: a chevron-notched chest pocket that cuts a V shape into the top edge of the bib pocket rather than the usual straight horizontal line. Paired with a cognac upper bib that transitions into a near-black lower body, brass coin studs at the cross-back strap junctions, and two lower pockets with cognac topstitch borders, the Fleshforge is a butcher apron with a considered design that holds up through a full day on the block.
Two tones, one material. The cognac upper bib and the near-black lower body are both dense, tight-grained full-grain leather. The horizontal seam where the two tones meet is cleanly stitched, and both panels condition and age at the same structural rate. The cognac upper will darken with use and conditioning; the near-black lower panel develops a quiet sheen. Both look better used than new.

Storage
The chevron chest pocket sits on the cognac bib with a V-notch cut into the top opening edge, which makes it easier to reach into without looking down during active cutting. It holds a phone, a folded cut sheet, or a marker flat against the chest. A brass accent stud below the pocket adds a deliberate hardware detail on the otherwise clean bib surface. The two lower pockets are open and topstitched in cognac, each wide enough for a full-size butchering knife and a sharpening steel side by side.
Straps and fit
Cognac cross-back straps with brass coin studs at the junctions keep the two-tone design intentional from the shoulders down. Cross-back routing distributes the weight of the long chest-to-knee apron across both shoulders. The stud hardware is flush and does not snag on clothing or counter edges during work. Made for the US market in sizes Small through 2XL.
Coverage and safety
Chest-to-knee two-tone full-grain leather provides complete front coverage through a cutting shift: torso, abdomen, and full thigh from blood, fat, and incidental blade contact. Both the cognac and near-black panels are the same dense, protective full-grain leather throughout. Leather is not cut-proof or puncture-proof. Always use cut-resistant gloves and proper knife technique alongside the apron every shift.
Care and maintenance
Wipe both panels with a damp cloth at the end of each shift. Condition the cognac and near-black leather at the same intervals using a neutral conditioner so both tones age evenly. The cognac bib will show patina faster and more visibly; that two-tone deepening over time is part of the apron’s character. Do not machine wash or soak. Store hung or flat away from direct heat and sunlight.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Fleshforge cut-proof?
No. Full-grain leather in both tones provides useful surface protection from abrasion and incidental contact. It is not cut-proof or puncture-proof. Cut-resistant gloves and safe knife technique are essential at the block every shift.
What is the chevron notch on the chest pocket?
Instead of a straight horizontal opening, the chest pocket has a V-notch cut into the top edge. It is a design detail that makes the pocket opening faster to reach into at a glance and gives the apron a look that stands out from standard flat-top pockets.
What sizes are available?
Small, Medium, Large, XL, and 2XL. The cognac cross-back straps adjust at the brass coin stud junctions for fit within each size.
